Web Design
I believe that design is one of the most important elements in creating content—in general, and not just on the web. Design extends into document layout, content organization, website aesthetic and usability, and much more. I have been lucky enough to dedicate the past 3-4 years of studying writing and design. The following are a couple of things that I believe are essential to in content and visual design:
Your content has to match
No matter the circumstances surrounding your project, it all must be cohesive. This means that your written content must match your design content and vice-versa. If your content does not match and it can take away from the effectiveness of your content or completely take away the purpose, leaving you with empty words or a pretty design that does not lend for an accessible or a usable product.
Your final product must be accessible and usable
The content or visual design of your project has to be accessible. We create content for a purpose. If it cannot be accessed by a diverse audience and despite different obstacles and barriers—although you may have a specific audience—then it is not fully functioning and, therefore, not usable. Being neither of these means that the product will not serve its intended purpose.
